Thank You for the Best International Convention Yet!

Well, it’s been a week since Convention and now everyone is back home and back in the saddle. We are still catching our breath. Of course, the Convention has stimulated a lot for all of us to follow up on, but I like to wait a week to let the euphoria to wear off and then reach out to you all now that you are back to reality.

Let me first thank everyone who helped make the Convention the best in the company’s history. It was the most successful ever in many ways. It takes so much to put on an event with the magnitude of the Market America International Convention. It really is the culmination of six months of work and planning. In fact, we are already planning and working toward the World Conference that will take place in Miami in February 2012.

A Convention is much more than the just powerful presentations you see on stage. The event team headed by Anthony Akers and Matt Laird, along with Howard Spector’s Ashley Events team, did an incredible job – the staging was amazing. There is so much more going on behind the scenes, with all the booths to run, promotions, breakouts, media sessions, meet and greets, the tradeshow, and more – the list goes on and on. The Convention is the culmination of all the new releases that the Market America teams have worked on tirelessly for six months, such as new products, technology platforms, Portal improvements, programs, tools, University Major upgrades, and business-building and prospecting techniques. All these innovations are all completed by, and presented at, Convention. More was delivered at this Convention than ever before, and everything we were talking about at the event is reality now. It’s no longer just about what will be coming in the future. Continue reading

International Convention Exposed:
Through the Eyes of a Rookie

It is true what my coworkers told me before my first Convention—it simply can’t be described; it’s just something you have experience. As I reflect on my first International Convention, I truly understand what my coworkers meant. A Market America event is so powerful that it has to be experienced.

As I arrived at the coliseum on Thursday and entered through the backstage, I was blown away by the lights, stage setup, cameras, and computers that resided behind and around the main stage. I felt like I was on the set of a rock concert! I made my way to the writer’s table and spanned the empty seats. I wondered how many entrepreneurs would soon fill them.

Within a matter of minutes, thousands—yes literally thousands—of people begin flooding the entryways of the coliseum. They all wanted the best seats in the house. I was amazed and captivated by their enthusiasm, their drive and their desire to be at this event. Their energy was electrifying and contagious. It made me feel proud to be part of such a cutting-edge company as Market America.

As I checked people into the VIP seating area, I remember thinking how happy everyone seemed to be and how cute some of the ladies’ shoes were! It was like nobody cared how far they had to travel to get here, how large the crowd was (or the fact that they had to fight through it), or how early it was; they were committed, and there was no place on earth they would rather be.

Perhaps my favorite memory of the morning was the dancing. I could not believe how many people were dancing! It was 9:00 in the morning, no cocktails in sight, and people were dancing and having the time of their life! I’ll admit, even I caught myself tapping my foot to the tune of the music. The energy in the room was a force to be reckoned with, and nobody could resist it—young and old alike.

One of the things I will always remember from my first convention is the charisma of the corporate team. All the presenters were so charismatic and passionate about their topics and spoke with authority and expertise. I have had the honor of working with a few of the members of the corporate team, and their personality and energy is the same, no matter if they’re in a small meeting or lecturing in front of thousands of people. The Impact of MAIC

The Market America International Convention is a mind-blowing, unique experience, capable of having a profound impact on all who attend. MAIC is life-changing for the individuals who attend, but it also has a major impact on the Greensboro area in general. Market America’s International Convention injects over 20 million dollars into Greensboro’s economy, and has become vital to the economic growth of this city. Danny Thompson, a Greensboro City Councilman, had this to say of the event:

“Greensboro is committed to fostering an environment of healthy economic growth, and events such as the Market America International Convention are vital to that mission. The event not only showcases a remarkable local company, but also brings over 20 thousand visitors to the area each year. As a result, millions of dollars are injected into our local economy on an annual basis. During a challenging economy, finding ways to help local businesses generate revenue becomes a critical endeavor for any municipality. Events such as the Market America International Convention and the NCAA Tournament are crucial for sustaining Greensboro’s economic growth and prosperity, and we look forward to hosting these events in the future.”

Help us Support our Troops: Send them a Message!

The Market America family was honored last week at the 2011 International Convention, when we were presented with a combat flag from the Green Berets of “A” Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, based out of Fort Bragg, NC. This flag had accompanied these brave soldiers as the fought in Afghanistan, and was given to us as a way of saying thank you. Market America had been approached by the OAR Foundation about providing the troops with supplements and energy-boosting products – and as a result we immediately began donating Torch Hydrate Replenishing Drink to the troops.

To support our troops is the duty of every American, and it was an honor and a privilege to do so in this instance. If you would like to send a message to these brave Americans, please make a comment on this article, and we will make sure the Green Berets of “A” Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group receive your message of support.

ShopBox Now Available for your personal Facebook Profile

As announced last week at the 19th Annual Market America International Convention, the social shopping revolution has begun and Market America placing itself at the forefront of this movement. We are excited to announce the launch of ShopBox, a new way to combine social networking and shopping at the click of a button. ShopBox has already appeared on thousands of Facebook news feeds exposing Market America and its amazing products to hundreds of thousands of people.

There have been many questions with regards to functionality on Facebook and if this new technology would work on Facebook Profiles, pages or both. Currently ShopBox will only work with your personal Facebook Profile pages. Our development team is team is currently working on a solution to extend this functionality to Fan/Business Pages at a later date.

Also, since the program was created with Flash, there have been some issues ShopBox working properly on mobile devices that run on Flash, including the iPhone or iPad. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused and are working toward trying to make this available to all mobile devices in the future.

Please follow the MA Blog as well as the Market America Facebook and Twitter pages for future announcements and updates on this exciting new technology.

A Tall Glass of Knowledge

JR had an amazing closing speech at the 2011 Market America International Convention – and hit on some really powerful concepts. The thought that the business is like water in that it takes the form of the vessel it is placed in is really profound. It becomes whatever you put into it, and is defined by your degree of commitment. Truly great stuff from JR – as always.
